Is the market right...?

I'm a noob. Right now I'm taking my time to read-up, learn, ask questions, and save up to buy my first investment. One question I have that I haven't seen an answer for is I'm curious what others think about the state of the market for investing or even what you think about the next 2-3 years. It seems like if we are coming out of a buyers market are we about to see prices drop again like in 2008? I'm nervous about investing within the next year or 2 and then seeing another drop since real estate is very cyclical. I know the market is impossible to predict and I also know that prices aren't even close to a 05-06 market was so maybe I'm thinking incorrectly.

Thanks for any repsonses!
