Womensinvestclub has a meeting  in Glendale on Tuesday July 21

Thanks for the info....is there a site you recommend that list meet ups?

I think you can find them on meetup.com.

I'm a member of womeninvestclub and I attended a few of the Club in action meetings. That's how I know about the dates, I'm on their email list.

Ok the July 21st meeting looks good. Can you tell me maybe what to expect at these meet ups? I've never been to one before. I will also look at meetup.com too. Thanks again!!

You get to network with other investors for about 1 hour, then for the next hour and half they have a speaker talking about various strategies of real estate investing.

Christina Suter runs a meetup in Pasadena, close to Glendale, and the next one is Thursday July 16.  It is well attended and good networking and speakers.

great info Ken and Ciprian....thank you and hope to see you guys there!!

Hey @Danny Cerecedes , I'm glad you posted this because I too am looking to network with fellow BPians. @Jon Huber and @Evelyn Jordan hosted a Los Angeles meetup last month that I was unable to make, but I'm looking forward to future ones. I haven't attended any REI clubs yet, but I'm sure there will be some fun adventures.

So far I've found these coming up:

Wednesday, July 15, 2015 from Club in Action. Real Estate Club In Action Monthly Meeting in Burbank. No guest speaker. (Thanks for the heads up @Ciprian L. )

Looks like there's an annual membership, but you can try the first one or two meetings for free. We'll probably check them out. From the site: "We help connect people. Our meetings are a mastermind format. You don't just park your rear in a seat and listen to someone tell you/sell you the newest latest greatest technique to get "Quick Riches" with no credit or money. We do NOT present "gurus" as speakers. WE present local folks and local deals. We have active flippers who want to mentor beginners."

Thursday, July 16, 2015 from FIBI group. The U.S and Global Economy - the good, the bad and the ugly in Pasadena. Speaker: Christina Suter. $15.

This looks like a pretty decent group. We're planning on attending. From the site: "Join other Pasadena-area real estate investors at our For Investors By Investors meeting (FIBI) held the third Thursday of each month at 7pm at Courtyard by Marriot, 180 North Fair Oaks Ave. Pasadena, CA. The Pasadena FIBI group provides an environment for active and informative peer discussions, expert presentations on relevant topics, and networking. All FIBI meetings support a NO SELLING policy, allowing investors—whether seasoned or beginner—to be free to share about their real estate passions without sales pitches."

@Ken Martinez how many of the FIBI group meetings have you gone to? What's your experience with the meetups?

Tuesday, July 21, 2015 from Invest Club for Women. Buying Properties in a Seller’s Market in Glendale. Speaker: Kurt Demeire. $20 for Pre-Registered; $25 at the Event.

There's an annual membership option, or you can pay per event. Looks interesting. From the site: "investCLUB for Women is the fastest growing, premier women's real estate club in Southern California. Our mission is to create the next generation of financially independent women (and men!) through real estate investing. This club is for you if you are looking for a highly energetic, supportive and inspiring environment where you can get educated, make amazing connections, and find new opportunities for action in real estate. And...best of all, have fun while doing it!"

Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from Best Los Angeles Real Estate Club. Secrets to Becoming Wealthy in Real Estate! in Glendale. Speakers: Bruce Norris & Tony Watson. $20.00 pre-registration; $25.00 at the time of event.

I think monthly meetings are free (typically on the 1st Wednesday of every month), but they will have events like this one on occasion. We're planning on going to this one.  From the website: "We are a network of experienced real estate entrepreneurs and Investors. THIS IS NOT A SEMINAR we have conversations about current market opportunities, education by facilitating discussions about real estate, the economy and industry related strategies and solutions."

These are the ones that we were thinking of attending. I'd love feedback from other BP folks about their experiences with meetups and/or other upcoming REI group gatherings.

Also, feel free to connect with me if you're in the LA area and plan on going to any local events. It's always nice to have friends to meet. We may need a BP special handshake...

Have a fantastic day!

Thanks for sharing the multiple events @Margo C.

I'll check with our retirement clients who invest in real estate and live in the surrounding area.

Sounds good Mark...always a good thing to build that buyers list!!

We regularly attend CiA in Burbank and the Pasadena FIBI. I've been to most of the others once. Robert Hall in Glendale sponsors a couple at their offices that are usually good.

We're traveling during this month's meetings; otherwise we'd be happy to meet you there and offer a guest pass to CiA.

 Hey Bruce,

Sorry for the question but what is CiA and FIBI? What kind of stuff can I expect at these meet up? Also do I need to be a member to attend?

Thanks again!

@Danny Cerecedes - Sorry; I used a couple of abbreviations.

I've found that many clubs exist only to market traveling gurus, where the meeting isn't much more than a hard sell of whoever is in town that weekend. Or they're so focused on the needs of the organizer that they don't really offer any content, or any networking. There were several good clubs in the SF Bay Area, from where we moved recently, so I've been a little disappointed by what I found here.

FIBI is a network of clubs. The name stands for For Investors By Investors. I regularly attend Christina Suter's meeting in Pasadena but all the FIBA chapters have the same no-sales-pitch philosophy. The Pasadena event has a fee. There's usually some networking time allotted, depending on the speaker.

CiA is Club in Action, in Burbank. Matt Skinner is the main organizer (along with Julie Falen). Mat is a developer and investor. Also no hard sales pitches. They take part of the time to analyze deals that people bring to the meeting, which is unique and I've found very useful. There's a fee, and annual memberships are available.

We're traveling to part of our far-flung (ha!) real estate empire later this week so I won't get to FIBI, but I may get to CiA.

I really appreciate it Bruce!! Look forward to possibly meeting you!

Hey everyone,

Wanted to make sure that ya'll saw the upcoming Los Angeles meet-up that was just posted: http://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/521/topics/211.... It's for next Saturday, July 25th. For some reason it didn't pop up on my LA keyword alert. Thankfully @Jon Huber  sent me a message about it.

Hope to see you all there!

Thanks Margo for the update!!

Thanks for all the events!
