first time investment

I would like to introduce myself and start an open discussion on a few topics. I've been circling the investment online world for about a year now. I'm looking at making my first investment sometime this year, permitting the market. I'm currently looking into multi unit properties with the possibility of an FHA insured loan.

I'm interested in the Brooklyn and Queens market, 2-4 unit.  I'd appreciate any thoughts anyone may have on the process, market, pre loan approval, and anything else pertaining to a first time investor.
