I am doing a 1031 exchange & looking for replacement property in OH.I heard disturbing news which i want to verify.. that my CA LLC which owns the Calif property i am selling cannot purchase in OH, or may be fined up to $20K. I heard that my CA LLC cannot do business in OH & must be converted into an OH LLC first? That invalidates my 1031 deferred exchange which requires that replacement property be purchased w/ the same name as the property i am selling...ie w same calif llc name...URGENTLY need help! This destroys all my 1031 exchange plans for OH...can anyone point me to a place where i can verify this? Am about to list my calif property for sale this is week...but this

puts a stop to that...

@Maria A A. Jeff B is correct - you would just have to register your California LLC as a foreign entity in Ohio. It may take some time to get that going so you may want to look into that asap.
