Contacting probate clerk

What happens if a probate clerk asks why I need to review the current probate case files? My county has two probate court locations. One is in the city I reside in. The other is located in the metropolitan area next door to my area. If I want to get all probate leads that are located in the other city, would I need to get those leads from that city's courthouse?

@Tony Marcelle   Regarding your first question, you shouldn't worry about the clerk asking you why you want to look at public records. Public records are for anyone to view and don't require an explanation. Good luck with your probate searches!
