Has anybody looked at the possibility of investing in PR and looked into a recovery on your investment timeframe?   I have personally invested in Costa Rica; however that is a totally different ball game, as I did not buy weather distressed property.

My husband bought a condo in Trujillo Alto area 2 years ago. The tenant fled to the mainland after the hurricane, but my husband was able to rent the unit to a new tenant in less than 2 months. There is lots of inventory on the market and prices are dropping like crazy, but I don't see an economic recovery anytime soon. To be on the safe side, I would suggest investing in the San Juan metro area because there are a lot of people working in that area. Also, vacation rentals are popular in the Condado and Isla Verde area. If you want to go that route and buy a condo for a vacation rental, make sure the building allows Airbnb.
