Deed recording lag time
Hello,
What is the longest time you've experienced from the time you've submitted your transfer of title/deed paperwork to the county and the time it was actually on record that it was changed?

I suspect in most states it is considered recorded the moment you give them the paperwork and fees. When it shows up on microfilm or whatever media they use is probably irrelevant to your rights as an owner.
Furthermore once you have accepted the deed the property is legally yours, recorded or not. However your rights may be limited and some states may have further limitations.
I currently have a property showing me as the owner in the State Department of Assessments and Taxation website. However the land records (the official records) show that I have sold the property 6+ months ago. Baltimore City has taken me to court for not paying fees. I easily won yet they are still sending me bills.
I also had a property where the title company did not record the deed on a property I sold. I got a condemnation notice and the city said they would tear it down. I had to light a fire under the attorney's butt to get it straightened out.
