To get an FHA loan do you have to actually occupy the property?

Posted

Can I use an FHA loan to buy a rental property? I rent a house now so is there anything against me keeping my rental and buying a home using an FHA loan to use as a rental property for passive income? Not sure if you have to actually occupy the home for 1 year of if you just can't get 2 loans in one year.

It depends on your willingness to commit mortgage fraud.  Remember the intent is to help people who couldn't otherwise afford to get their own home, get one.  All that said, yes you need to live in the property.
