First time homeowner - Buy duplex without seeing both units?

I am looking into buying my first property to house hack. I am looking at both SFH and Duplexes. I like that I could have privacy with a Duplex(live on one side, rent out the other), but it has its own challenges.

One thing I am wondering about: How common is it to buy a duplex after only getting to see one of the two units? AND not having pictures(or only having pictures of one of the 2 units)?

It seems like there are a lot of cases where one unit is vacant, and they have pictures of that. But they have no pictures of the occupied unit. If the vacant unit is remodeled, then I don't actually know what the occupied unit looks like/what condition it is in.

To me, at a minimum if I can't see the unit, I should at least be able to see pictures for both units. This is a big decision and I want to be as informed as possible.

What are y'alls thoughts? Do you agree with my thinking, or are there details I am missing for why I shouldn't worry?

@Andrew Bissada Also, make sure you understand how the contracts and inspection periods work specifically in Texas. Be cautious of advice from people in other states as their contractual and MLS rules can be different along with the terms used to describe different aspects of a deal.
