How did you achieve funding for a large project?

Hello all! I'm wondering how you all have gotten larger investors/backers for larger projects. Currently I'm innovating in the affordable housing industry and almost everyone I have told my pitch to has invested but I don't have too many contacts as I'm newer in the game. Wondering if there is a place to get angel investors that seems to work?
