First SFH to purchase...any advice?

I've been researching REI for about 6 months and have been looking into purchasing SFH to live in for about a year. My plan is to turn property into rental home and move afterwards to either another SFH or Duplex. I'm just getting started and will be moving (currently living in apartment) right after FHA approval. Any tips or advice moving forward?
