Do I need an attorney to set up my LLC?

My partner and I want to set up an LLC and buy a small apartment building. We want the LLC for asset protection purposes. I know that I can set it up myself and have done so in the past. However, I have heard from several people including one of the BP Podcasts that if you don't have an attorney set up your LLC, you will be in trouble when/if you get sued. So has anyone on here set up their own LLC without using an attorney and then been sued? Did it make a difference that you set it up yourself?

Thank you!

No, you don't need a lawyer to set up your LLC - you can probably do it on your iPhone.

Yes, you need a lawyer to assist you in making sure you are doing all the things you need to do with your LLC to make sure it is really providing asset protection
