I am in the process of closing on my 3rd multifamily in Ohio and the first property is already filled with tenants and a professional property management team.
My next task is to have a CPA that I can get advice from, from time to time and also help with tax filing and organization of deductions.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I currently live in SF area, but does not have to be local. Just someone that specializes in real estate long term buy and hold investments.
I have a tax lady that I have used for 5 years and my family has used her for 4 (I referred them to her) and she knows her stuff. I use her for real estate and I also run an eCommerce business so she knows business in general with a specialty in real estate. Her rates are very reasonable imo, I think I paid $750 last year for her to do returns on 4 rentals and 1 business plus some 1099 stuff from side hustles (I was a mortgage originator and real estate agent for a short time for giggles). In the time that I have been working with her, she made partner and is now one of the big bosses : )
PM me if you're interested, I don't like to plaster good contacts in an online forum.
I am definitely interested. I am less concern about how much it would cost if they can save me thousands from taxes each year. I rather pay a good CPA than the US TReasUry(MP?).
@P.J. Bremner , I am about to close on a primary residence (SFR) that I will be house hacking. Do you see your CPA being one that may be a right fit for me even if I don't have multiple properties yet? If not, what do you think are some key things I should look for in a CPA for my situation (aside from being real estate savvy)?
I know it's a loaded question and will probably be pretty general. Just trying to find the right starting point. Thanks!
Jake Hottenrott, Brandon Hall, Steven Hamilton, Myself, Linda Weygnat.
If you guys want people who specialize in Real Estate investors- look on the website for people that are real estate investors ;) Everyone listed above is an awesome accountant, specializes in Real estate, works with remote clients, and....is an investor as well.
I spent a portion of today talking with Jake while weeping at my desk because he is looking at a ten property deal that costs less than I can buy a SFH for where I am >.< haha
