Why Overseas Investors Are So Much Easier

I work with both national and international investors. By far, overseas investors are the easiest group to work with. Unlike American investors, they don't get waylaid by rumors and illusion and misconception of Detroit, which I often have to help American investors overcome. International investors are not naive. They are quite savvy but are mainly concerned about one thing...the numbers and the value. That is what mainly drives their decision as it should with all investors.

As I said in my first post, it's very rare that ALL of anything is exactly the same, and that's why it's important not to use broad strokes when describing "all overseas investors" or "all of Detroit", because lumping together huge swaths like that inevitably will come back to bite you.

I live in Orange County, CA. California as a whole is having huge financial problems. However; Orange County is doing very well, and has a low unemployment rate, broad based job market, high income wage earners, some of the highest valued property in the world, etc. At the same time, there are pockets of Orange County that are still struggling a little.

I'm sure Detroit has areas that are doing better than others. Areas where businesses are investing.

To the original poster, you kind of got off on the wrong foot on this thread, in my opinion, by insinuating that foreign investors are somehow more savvy than home grown investors, and less of a problem to deal with. In reality, investors are investors. If they are making money, they're happy, if they are losing money, they aren't. If you want to work with all foreign investors, that's great, I hope you make a lot of money. But if you don't want to be on the defensive, try to limit your ridicule of American investors, as many will find it very offensive.
