How did you find your landscaper?

I'm located in Florida. The grass probably needs to be cut at least twice a month during the summer. It seems fine in the winter months. How do landscapers usually charge? Do they usually do a monthly flat rate (this would include the winter when its not needed)? Is it better to have someone do it per cut? This way I can save from November until March. How did you find your lawn maintenance company?
