Has anyone had a successful tenant eviction in Union City NJ?

Hi,

I just filed my first eviction in Union City NJ for a tenant who stopped paying rent. Since New Jersey is very tenant friendly I wanted to know if anyone has had a successful experience with actually getting your tenant out within a few months? I have a feeling this is going to be a long and painful process. I tried to work with the tenant but they have stopped responding and refuse to pay rent anymore, I don't even know who lives in the unit anymore. I hope a court date doesn't take too long to get. thanks

Hi Eilzabeth,

I've successfully evicted numerous tenants in Union County. I am a New Jersey Landlord/Tenant Attorney. Typically, depending on the county it can take 1-3 months to get a court date. It's important to make sure your property is registered prior to your Court date. Additionally, be sure to have an accurate ledger and your signed lease agreement. The state website can also be very informative. If you need any assistance don't hesitate to reach out. Good luck!
