Any NYS experts out there?
I would like to know if it is possible, in good old New York State, to start a property management business out of your home. I would eventually move to an office of some sort, but starting out I obviously wouldn't have the profits to pay rent for office space. I have been trying to get a solid answer to this question for some time now, and haven't had much luck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are you a licensed real estate broker? You need to be in NYS to do property management for other people.
I am in the process as we speak David Niles I would not be moving forward with this until I have my license.
I wouldnt see why you couldnt run this out of your home at first. Most everything could and would be done via phone / email.
If you dont have a real estate sales license, you need that before you can get brokers, you also have to be a licensed sales agent for 2 years before you can apply for broker.
There are some brokers who will let agents do PM under them though for a cut so that may be a temp option for you as well.
