Hi,

After signing lease with tenants, one of them reached out saying that the other tenant (who is his fiance) used his SSN, gmail to do the background check and sign the lease. We are yet to receive security deposit as today has been 3rd day after signing the lease.

Looking for suggestions on how to proceed in this situation.

TIA

It’s reasonable to consider the lease invalid due to the potential unauthorized signing and lack of payment. You’re within your rights to terminate the agreement and move on. Make sure to document everything in writing and notify the tenants formally that you are voiding the lease due to these concerns.

Better to cut losses now than risk problems down the line.
