My previous company employer related 401k money is with one company (public traded company) which offers traditional IRA as well. But challenge is i can only invest in low-cost mutual funds, ETFs , stocks, bonds and other conventional investment options only. But cost is low.

Should i move out to invest in alternative assets like real estate or private equity or precious metals or annuity etc with bit more cost?

What are pros and cons of each approach. Please advise

@Gp G.

You need to hire a financial planner. A financial planner can help you create comprehensive financial strategy including 401Ks, IRAs, and real estate, so you don't have to ask strangers on the internet for advice.

A good financial planner can save you thousands of dollars in taxes, help you create a retirement plan, and help you create an estate plan.

Good luck and let me know if I can be of assistance.
