Last Friday Me and my room mates just signed a lease to be tenants at will. We were supposed to move in on September 5th but I just got a call today from the agent (landlords representative) saying we might not be able to move in at all.

The current tenants are in the process of closing on a house, but there is some possible title trouble and if the sale does not go through, I was informed the current tenants will be staying in the apartment.

Is the landlord/homeowner required to rent to me? We passed all the credit and backround checks, the agent even came to our houses to make sure we were who we say we are.

Thanks in advance for any and all help. Feel free to ask any questions I will be on here all night to answer them.

@Account Closed First off, there is no certainty that the tenant's purchase escrow won't go through.  Title flaws are just knots in a string.  Secondly it doesn't really matter where you "are coming from".  The landlord will have an empty unit ready on the 8th or he won't.  So start looking but let the landlord or PM know you want to be considered if and when the tenant knows if they are moving. Let them know you want to be considered for any other suitable unit.  The PM may be working with other landlords and know of something.  The landlord may have associates with something coming up.

Do not let your girlfriend interface with the landlord or PM.  You need to be remembered as low drama and easy to work with.  This is Adult 101 stuff.  You can do this!
