Tenant complains about mold issue Please Help!

Tenant called about mold issue. She complains that she's been sick which might be caused by mold. I researched on BP and my plan is to order a professional inspection and treat the issue accordingly. Can someone recommend a good inspection company? And does inspection company treat the mold as well? If not, I would also like recommendations on companies that can treat the problem.

Thank you!

While I understand that you are looking for an inspection/treatment company, with the details provided, you may be putting the cart before the horse.  "Might be caused by mold"...?  Is there any evidence that the house actually has a mold problem?  How does one make the leap automatically from a tenant being ill and it being caused by mold? Curious, did the tenant suggest it could be mold or did you, and if so, why?

Mold is a natural and normal part of the environment and is pretty much everywhere... it's problematic when it grows inside the building envelope and then, it may be a serious matter.  Many states require those who deal with mold mitigation/remediation to receive certified training and carry a license.  Check with your state... it's a good place to start in finding a company.  As well, you might want to visit the EPA's website.

Keep in mind, that should a mold problem of significance exist, your tenant may be required to vacate the premises until the matter is resolved.

Good luck to you and I hope it's not mold (or a tenant with ill intent in mind).
