Notice of Insurance Non-renewal-Roof Replacement

Just received a notice of non-renewal. According to the notice I failed to respond to a roof replacement demand by American Integrity Insurance Company. Fortunately the current policy doesn't expire until 8/17 allowing me plenty of time to get bids and replace the roof. Anyone have any suggestions on possibly another company that may not be so strict? This is the second house where they have demanded a new roof. I put one on the other property but decided to self insure instead of paying outrageous rates. This property is quite a bit newer and would cost me double to replace if something happened. Suggestions? The roof is 12 years old on this rental. If I must replace, would you do shingles of metal? Thanks for any insight.
