I am just coming back from a trip in the Allentown aera and I have visited a property with one unit being a section 8. Interestingly this seems to be paying more than the market rate rent. I am talking about getting somewhere around $1,000 instead of $750. I would have assumed the other way and I find this a little odd.
Does anyone have experience in the allentown market with section 8? Is this difference in rent common and do you chose to invest in Allentown section 8 then or stay away from it and why?
How many bedrooms for this unit?
The section 8 unit is advertised as a 2 bedroom but one doesn't have any window or closet so I don't even know if it counts... maybe like a walk-thru bedroom that's been closed...
If I understand correctly. You have a sec 8 tenant with a 1 bedroom voucher with housing paying $1000 per month?
