Additional deposit to secure rental property

Greetings:

I have my first rental property and have potential tenant from out of state who is job relocating. They want to rent my place but not untill September 1st. My terms are 1st,2nd and security which they understood although I did not screen them yet or have signed 1 yr lease. Should I be asking for additional deposit to secure my property 30 days in advance of commencement of the lease?
