hello, I have a single family rental property. Do I have to obtain an EIN number? If yes, why. If not, does it hurt if I have one? Thanks

@Nahal Beckam

If you have an LLC and are using that for asset protection you need an EIN number. If you bought the property in your own name then no.

Look at Mark Kohler (CPA and Attorney) you Tube videos on advantage of LLC and many other informative videos.
