Deduction for skylight repair on owner-occupied duplex

Hi. We own a duplex in Minnesota and live in the top half. We had to have a skylight in our roof replaced in 2018. The skylight benefits us (the owners) as it is above our living space. But it is a necessary roof repair. Can we deduct half from the rental earnings?
