Carpet gets ruined quickly, primarily by staining. Tile is durable, but expensive to install and grout stains easily and is difficult to clean.  Hardwood is beautiful but expensive and easy to scratch and is finicky around moisture and humidity.  My vote is Luxury Vinyl Plank. Durable, waterproof, looks high end and is inexpensive to buy and install.
