So, here's one very strong argument for never, ever EVER using accordion-type plastic or thin metal dryer vent hose.  You just can't clean that accumulated lint out completely!  So many avoidable house fires are caused by this.  Let me know if you have any other innocuous dangers you have been dealing with.
