Type of Notice to Tenants for Appraisal

Hi All - Searched forums but couldn't find anything specific on this.

Does legal notice need to be sent to tenants for an upcoming home appraisal? We're refinancing our mortgage and an appraisal is required, which includes entering the properties. Does a simple heads up via email or call work or should I send them something more official?
