How many of you are strict with the 3x rent/salary?

Hi all,

I have just begun to try and stick with the 3x rent salary. Do you ever stray? I have a nice single mom applicant, works 30-35 hours/week at $17 hour, gets $400 month in child support and still isn’t close to 3x for a $975 month rental. What gives..?

Our only exception to 3x is retired people with huge investment accounts-we have a few of those.
