Squatters in a deceased persons trailer (in a trailer park)

Linda Morales
Posted

My father recently passed away and did not leave a will.  I am his only next of kin.  He had a trailer at a trailer park and I have found out that there are people staying in it.  They have changed the locks and are refusing to leave.  I have no idea where to start, what to do, or how long the process will take.  I cant believe that these people would even have any rights to argue to be there.  I have no access to the trailer or my fathers belongings in the trailer, which I am sure they have helped themselves to already.  Please help.

@Linda Morales  Sorry that you are going through this.  Have they been living there for 6 months or is that just what they told the police?  Some people are scum of the earth.  If you have legal documentation that the place is yours, then I'd file an eviction.  If the costs are too high, you can just walk away and then it becomes the owner of the trailer park's problem-not ideal either.  Does the owner of the park know?
