Hello everyone! I hope everyone’s doing well. My newbie question is the following:
Let’s say you own a triplex, you live in a unit and rent the other two out. Are you (the landlord) paying for electricity, water, WiFi, and such for every unit? Or do you have a contract that specifies what the tenant pays and what you provide? Is there a way to track how much each unit consumes each month? Thanks in advance!

ideally there are separate meters for each unit so whomever is living in each unit can pay their own utilities.

As Max said, hopefully there are separate meters for the water & electricity & gas. I live in one unit, I rent out the adjacent unit by room so I pay for the garbage and wifi for mine and that one. Only because it's more economical and less of a hassle. The third unit is on their own.
Depending on the relationship you want to have and the set up, it may be worth looking into splitting the cost of wifi & garbage but be prepared for some inconveniences (too many users on wifi, too much garbage in the can one week, who brings the garbage to curbside, etc.)
