Garage conversion to ADU: What’s your story?
I'm doing research on converting a detached garage to an ADU in the La Mesa/San Diego area. There is a ton of information on the internet but I want to hear from other house hackers that have converted their garage, especially in the San Diego/So Cal area. What's your story?
*How much did it cost to convert your garage to an ADU? What is your ADU sq footage?
*Is your ADU permitted or Unpermitted?
*How much value do you anticipate this will add to your home if you sell it?
*If you were to start over and convert another garage what is one thing you would watch out for? (e.g. easy access for 3” sewer line, existing updated electrical etc)
*Is the rent comparable to other 1bd/studios in the area?
