Do I need a RE licenses to manage my own rental property in NC?

Hi there! We're about to purchase our first SFR in the Raleigh, NC area and I'm planning on managing the properties myself for the time-being. From my understanding, if you are hiring a property management company, the PM needs to have a real estate license but if you're managing your own property, you don't have to have a license, is this correct?

Also wondering if you all suggest creating an LCC for the PM side of our business or if that's something we can do down the road when we have multiple properties? We're still doing conventional loans so we're thinking of holding off on LLCs for the properties until we switch loan types.

I have also been doing research on Property Management and Landlord laws and regulations but if anyone has resources that help outline them that they could share, that'd be incredibly helpful! Thank you all!
