Deceased Renter Question

Hello,

I am writing on behalf of a friend whose father passed a week ago. He was very introverted and the death revealed that he was a hoarder (of books thankfully not like cats or food) and lived in a very under-cared for apartment. We'd known the property was not in good condition as the daughter had to fight with the landlord to get hot water fixed for several months, that sort of thing, but we're left with a problem on his death.

Whatever savings he had were used for his cremation so there's little to no money for a big moving/cleaning operation. He lived two hours away from his daughter and has no nearby friends to help assist cleaning out his place. Basically we're at a point where it's going to take weeks to get the place cleaned out on top of going through probate court and all that.

What are the legal ramifications of her abandoning the property?
