Mailbox split for duplex

I'm closing on a house that used to be a single family, but was converted to be a duplex. There is still only 1 mailbox, however. It seems previously all mail went to the same box, and then the tenants split it among themselves.
I'd like to add a second mailbox and have them be Unit A and Unit B or something like that. There doesn't seem to be much information about how to do this with USPS? Is there price for this type of work?

@Scott Kaiser I have added a mail box before in the past when we built out a new unit. You would be surprised at how easy this is. Just slap a mail box up there and put the unit number there and you will start getting mail there!

I agree with @John Warren . There’s some convoluted process with the USPS and possibly the city to designate new addresses and apartments. There’s some magical database that comes from somewhere, that despite how
Many people I asked at USPS, there’s not much known about it.
But long story short, as long as the mailbox is clearly labeled, the post office should do a decent job of splitting the mail without any additional work!
