My wife and I are in the middle of purchasing a 4 plex. Should we put it under an LLC, or just our names? What are some of the pros and cons?
Depends on if you will be purchasing under the LLC. I have found insurance can be just as good. Liability insurance and if needed an umbrella policy. I am not providing legal advice so take it for what it is. Best of luck to you.
I would definitely advise on an LLC, but that shouldn't be your only protection. There are a ton of great articles regarding this here on BP. This article covers the different kinds of LLCs and which are best for RE investing. If you're investing in multiple properties, you'll want to consider a series LLC. Also, look into the different ways to protect your assets in conjunction with using an LLC. This article goes further into that, as well.
