Rental inspection delayed

I have been working hard for months to bring my property up to the standard I know from prior experience the city inspector wants. Now I call them to schedule the inspection and they tell me their first opening is over five weeks away. They tell me if I get a tenant in there before then I could be charged with a misdemeanor (yes an actual crime) and fined.

So now I have to sit on this house for over a month without making any money on it.

I know which city you are talking about and I have only had one house there in the 1990's. I haven't been back since. They were horrible to deal with. The judge there is horrible and a landlord even hired a hit man to kill him and then went to prison.

Every other city I know of just wants the money and will inspect later. What is weird is if you were going to live in the house yourself, no inspection would be required. As soon as you go to rent it, it's all of the sudden an unsafe structure that needs to be inspected.

I would like to see a class action lawsuit against all of these citites that require inspections and have them come to an end. they are un-American, a violation of the landlord's property rights, a violation of the tenant's Fourth Amendement rights, and an overall waste of money.
