getting a statutory agent in ohio- california invester

Posted

Hello Guys,

needing some help please! I'm a California resident and i now own a rental property in Ohio. I have formed a LLC for the rental property and registered in California. I am now trying to register my LLC as a foreign LLC entity in Ohio. I attempted to register with them, however they declined my application stating I need a statutory agent in Ohio. I was a little confused, as I thought I could name myself as the statutory agent as i am handling everything. I emailed them questioning them on this topic, and they responded with an explanation that the statutory client needs to be located in Ohio. I do have a property manager, but was hoping you could provide me some background info on why I would need an Ohio statutory agent/ some recommendations.

google "registered agents in Ohio" or "statutory agents in ohio".  Take your pick.

You can't be either as you live in CA.  One of the requirements for both is you must live in the state you are trying to register with, in this case, Ohio.
