Any reason to set up LLC In CA?

Hi, I own multi families in CA and TX. I'm contemplating setting up an LLC in either CA or TX (series LLC). Is there any reason for RE investor to set up an LLC in CA considering the cost and stronger protection in TX? TX seems to be a logical choice if it allows non-resident to register. Thanks
