Our next meetup will be the 2nd Wednesday of June (June 14th) at 7pm at the Lawrence Beer Company on Pennsylvania Street. This is a casual and low key way to meet other investors in the Lawrence and Topeka markets as well as all those surrounding markets. (Like Eudora, Tonganoxie, Mclouth, Perry, Lecompton, Ottawa, Leavenworth and maybe even Kansas City and more).
This month will feature a fantastic guest speaker. Mr. Mark Davenport. In 2015, he and his partner Phoebe decided to sell their house and begin investing in real estate. Since then, they’ve grown their portfolio from one duplex to 200 doors. They’ve gained experience with long term rentals, property renovations, managing various types of commercial spaces and short term rentals. Phoebe and Mark relocated from Brooklyn, NY to Kansas City in the fall of 2019. They moved to the midwest in part to take advantage of the plentiful local opportunities to develop large commercial properties, and were thrilled to discover a small city in south-central Kansas called Hutchinson. Fast forward to 2022 and their portfolio in Hutch has swelled to include Plaza Towers (an iconic 12 story high rise residential/commercial tower), Leon Place, (a 6 story mid rise historic hotel that has been converted into apartments and commercial space) and the Hoke Hotel (a boutique hotel that is currently being developed).
Most recently, they’ve begun their work in Kansas City, completing the purchase of Blue Ridge Tower in summer 2022. This 10 story commercial office building in Jackson County is their first large commercial property in the Kansas City Metro, and they’re excited to be working in their own backyard!
Whether you have years of experience or still wondering about your first property this is a great opportunity to meet people with similar interests who are excited to learn and help others along the way. Please message me with any questions and we hope to see you there.
