The DIG Chester and Montgomery County sub-group will be meeting 7:00 PM Wed Sept 10, 2014. DIG members are expected to bring their memberships; non-members can attend as their one "no membership fee" meeting (but the $8.00 admission for the room still applies) that DIG allows once per every 12 months. And we will be meeting on the second Wednesday of the month from now on in months when we actually meet (no meetings in July, August and January). DIG's website:
For our Sept 10, 2014 meeting, Brad Kingston will be the presenter. The topic will be "Rehabbing". Brad is an experienced Rehabber and Flipper.
Before becoming a full time investor, Brad had a corporate job. After 7 years of 60-70 hour weeks and working his way up to a 6 figure management position, Brad signed a contract that basically stated he could be let go for no reason, and in a few years, at the end of 2006 that is exactly what happened. Brad never wanted to be in that position again, so he knew he would have to work for himself and pursued real estate investing.
In 2007 Brad was watching webinars, going to free training events, and his first "bootcamp". He joined DIG, got a couple hundred business cards (which had nothing but name, phone number, and the words "Real Estate Investor" on them) and set up an LLC. He started printing letters and driving around putting them on the doors of people in foreclosure, and used half of his unemployment to advertise.
After completing a couple of wholesale deals and his first rehab, in 2008 Brad partnered up with another DIG member (Mitch Harris) whom he had never met before and who was also getting started in real estate. Since then, they have combined their efforts, resources, and skill sets to buy, rehab, and sell over 50 homes, and have done new construction, and acquired over 50 rental units comprised of a few single family homes and small apartment buildings.
So Brad will be presenting his approach to rehabbing, and as is customary there will be Q&A at the end.
Bring your DIG membership!
Meeting with soft drink beverages will be $8.00. Dinner will be $18.00 and that includes meal (from a limited menu), soft drink beverages, tax and gratuity. Cash only, please bring small bills if possible! Cash bar tab available for those who wish to have something other than soft drinks.
Please RSVP by posting in this thread if you plan to attend. Since the room being used is smaller than the one we had in Royersford, if you are coming, we really would appreciate getting your RSVP so that we can arrange the seating in the best way ahead of time. See you Sept 10, 2014!
@Dave Van Horn can often be found attending at this subgroup, as well as some other BP members. But lots more attendees are not BP members. Seems we had a handful of BP members at the last gathering. As the sub-group name and thread title suggest, most attendees are investing or residing in either Chester or Montgomery County. But we get attendees from the Philadelphia area in general too.
