The DIG Chester and Montgomery County sub-group will be meeting 7:00 PM Wed October 8, 2014. DIG members are expected to bring their memberships; non-members can attend as their one "no membership fee" meeting (but the $8.00 admission for the room still applies) that DIG allows once per every 12 months. And we will be meeting on the second Wednesday of the month from now on in months when we actually meet (no meeting in July, August and January). DIG's website:

For our October 8, 2014 meeting, @Dave Van Horn  will be the presenter. The topic will be "Raising Private Money". As usual there will be Q&A at the end.

Dave is currently President of PPR, a Note Company, which manages several note funds that buy, sell, and hold residential mortgages.

He began investing in Real Estate in 1989. After 25 years of experience in residential and commercial real estate, serving as a realtor and a life insurance agent, and a painting contractor, he moved on to raising capital for commercial real estate deals (professional office condos and mobile home parks) before starting to manage funds to buy pools of mortgages.

As a long-time member of DIG, and founder of the Real Estate Investors Networking Group (RING), Dave was able to learn from the expertise, resources, and network of visiting speakers, especially those who hired him to raise capital for their companies.

And so, today, he teaches Raising Private Money to high-profile JV partners, while allowing them the opportunity to gain experience by raising capital for funds managed by PPR.

Dave also has a blog on BiggerPockets:

And Dave has done a podcast on note investing and raising money:

Bring your DIG membership!

Admission is either of $8.00 or $18.00 per person. Meeting with soft drink beverages only will be $8.00. Meeting with dinner (from a limited menu) will be $18.00 and that includes soft drink beverages, tax and gratuity. Cash only, please bring small bills if possible! Cash bar tab available for those who wish to have something other than soft drinks.

Please RSVP by posting in this thread if you plan to attend. If you are coming, we really would appreciate getting your RSVP so that we can arrange the seating in the best way. See you October 8, 2014!

You will meet some BP members. But lots more attendees are not BP members. As the sub-group name and thread title suggest, most attendees are investing or residing in either Chester or Montgomery County. But we get attendees from the Philadelphia area in general too.
