International Investment Advice?

Posted

I am an architectural designer looking to get involved in the real estate investing world and find this group to be so inspiring! I have yet to jump in as I am working towards gathering the funds and learning more about how to pick the right property.

I was wondering if anyone has invested internationally. I am considering investing in Mexico as the cost for land/new construction is lower (easier to get started) and I have a few connections there.

Anyone have any insights to share?

@Rossitza Iovtcheva

There are many other reasons to invest in Mexico and, in my humble opinion, it's the best time ever to do it for a slew of reasons on top of those you mentioned, the main ones being a rising middle class, a booming tourism industry, a growing number of visitors beyond tourism (remote workers, expats and retirees), the best possible regulatory climate for short-term rentals, much lower prices and costs, diversification and asset protection. However, it's very important that you know what you're doing or work with people who do so kudos to you for educating yourself on the topic.

Over the years, I have shared my knowledge and experience with international investing by responding to hundreds of posts on the topic and a huge number of those posts have been about Mexico. Therefore, you should probably find a lot of insights there. While you can find them through my profile, I know they're difficult to sort through and there's a lot so feel free to DM me if you don't easily find what you're looking for.

Good luck investing in the sun and, when traveling there, make sure you keep the receipt of your expenses so you can deduct them! :-)
