Activity between May to Oct in Palm Spring greater area

Palm Spring greater area (Palm Desert, La Quinta and other sorroundings) is very busy with short term rental activities between Nov and April due to various reasons - winter birds coming from east coast, canada, tennis activities in March and Music festivals in April. 

Once April is over, what activities bring short term reters to this area? Playing golf during weekends? or what else? I am wondering what other attractions are there during summer.
