New in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan

Hello,

new member here, I found the site through the podcast. I moved to this little college community last year. I am a home owner in Tulsa, OK. I bought a cheap little first house in 2005 for 54k. Gutted the kitchen and bathroom and updated everything. Put in central heat/air, refinished the hardwood floors and other minor updating, paint, etc. Similar houses in the area are now selling for around 100k. I've really been slacking, the house isn't even on the market.

Currently renting in Michigan, its the worst. The town I live in has a population of about 35,000 when the students are here. Demand for housing is huge, I was in a hotel for 3 weeks just trying to find a place. The good apartment complexes have 2 year waiting lists. Rentals on Craigslist get snatched up quick. My landlord had 50 emails within a few hours of posting this house. The demand blows me away.

I am here to learn the business, I see so much opportunity here. The goal being to get a great deal on my next residence, and learn how to find great buy and hold deals. I've always ran side businesses and I think this is the the next step.

Would love to talk to others in the area.

Ken
