Real Estate Newbie!
Hi all! My name is Lauren & I am new to BiggerPockets. I am just getting started in the real estate world & would love to use this platform to connect with you all & learn as much as I possible can to help me moving forward! I currently live in Orlando, FL & have for a couple of years but I do plan to move to Cleveland, OH in the next year to be close to my family. I’d love to start my journey in one of those two areas since I’m the most familiar with them.
I appreciate any advice & education you are willing to share. I’m excited to be a new member of this community!

Welcome to the forums! I'm very familiar with the investing scene here in Cleveland and am decently well connected with people here, so I'm sure I can help in some way shape or form. If there's anything you have questions on or need, let me know and I'll be happy to help!

Hey Lauren !! Welcome !
My best advice... do not go thru "analysis paralysis". You can think and think and analyze and think yourself into hardly ever doing anything while waiting for the perfect opportunity. I learned the love of the game and fun is not in trying to find the perfect deal, but making a sensible deal work great for me ! Also, great start by being here on BP. Some get caught up in taking advice from non investors. You don't want to go to your cardiologist to get your windows tined :)
Welcome again! There are tons of people from all walks of life willing to help

I recommend investing driving distance to you, your first 5 properties are going to be a big learning experience for you. After 10 I am still seeing things I have never seen before that requires me to handle it in person. Finding deals is easier when you can sit face to face with sellers as well.

@Lauren Beech Welcome to BP and congrats on getting started.
I'm in Orlando now (18 years) and lived in Cleveland for 10. I currently have properties in Toledo and OOS can be challenging. Florida and Ohio are vastly different markets for many reasons, but RE is pretty much the same if the numbers make sense and you are comfortable with the property.
I might suggest to keep the house you have here, (assuming you own it) You likely have equity and are familiar with the area, so thats a good place to start. Perhaps use the equity to use as a down payment for your first Cleveland property? This will give you a jump start of not pulling the trigger in Cleveland while you analyze properties and wait for the perfect one..you already have your first one, so the second will be much easier.
Best of luck to you and let me know if I can help in any way!

Welcome - the great thing is both Orlando area and Cleveland seem to be great areas. You being from Cleveland or having family there helps a ton - they will know which areas are good and not so good.
Lots of good information out there - read and educate would be my first step. Look up "4 square method" on youtube by bigger pockets. Very easy simple way to analyze a basic property. You'll get better as you go.
Do you have a full-time job? Could be an agent in time, on the side?

Welcome! BP is a great place to be for information and connecting with other real estate professionals. BiggerPockets also has really good books you can check out as well.
