Turning my Guest Cottage into a paycheck

Tracy Baxter
Posted

I have a two bedroom 850 square foot furnished guest cottage I want to turn into a STR / MTR. Its located right "where the mountains begin" in an area perfect for outdoor enthusiasts but also about an hour from the large city of Greenville. It sits on a 37 acre property in the upstate of South Carolina about 12 miles outside of the nearest city limits. I have short term goals of making enough of a profit to repay me for the improvements I have made to the Cottage and longer term goals of covering the mortgage on the main house. If I am successful with my guest Cottage I do hope to expand my portfolio and add other other STR properties (or build them on the existing property) in the future. I am new to everything and am here to learn all I can from setting up an LLC to how to create the best experiences to generate repeat business from my guests. Thank you in advance to all who share their expertise with newbies like me.
