New to Investing

I'm a healthcare professional that is ready to make the jump into real estate investing. I'm looking to make connections with people that are willing to share their insights. My plan is to house hack a duplex by using the equity in my current single family house to fund the down payment. I believe that I would then be able to rent out my single family house. The ultimate goal is to start scaling and eventually would expand into another state such as South Carolina for short term rentals.
