Hello from a corporate sales vet turned Bay Area REALTOR®

Jens Hansen
Posted

Hi everyone! My name is Jens Hansen and I’m a newly licensed REALTOR® with Compass here in Danville, CA (a family-friendly suburb about 30 miles east of San Francisco). I’ve been following BP and reading their investing books for about five years now. For many reading this, the BRRRR book was the first book I read that really sparked my interest in real estate.

I spent 15 years in corporate sales, but was tired of having a traditional boss and got myself into a solid financial position to be able to do so without taking on the stress of a commission-only career (as someone with a wife, a mortgage, and two kids). I went all-in on real estate because I love helping people especially with their personal finances, and for most people, smart real estate decisions are the #1 way to grow net worth and buy back their time to do what they love.

I also wanted to be in real estate full-time so I could start investing myself and use REPS status to offset my agency income. I truly believe the combination of real estate investments and tax strategy is how wealth is built in America, and I want to help younger buyers who feel discouraged about real estate feel empowered and capable. Normal people can achieve financial freedom through these strategies but just like with getting into shape, sometimes they just need a personal trainer to guide them and hold them accountable.

I’m a personal finance geek at heart and love the investing/net-worth side of real estate. I don’t have any rentals yet, but my wife and I did a “BRRR-lite” on our primary home—Bought, Remodeled, and Refinanced—now it’s time to repeat!

I’m looking forward to contributing to the forums, learning from others, and sharing what I can. Grateful for the BP community and excited to connect with you all!
